A quick reminder of what it’s about:
In Colombes France 1669, an old Queen dies. At her deathbed, valuable papers and a gold cross are stolen by a young serving woman of the chamber. She has long been groomed and abused, and is pregnant. Her plan is to escape to Paris and sell the items to support herself and the baby. However, she is discovered by her abuser and callously murdered in the attempt, but overlooking the act is the spectre of her own dead mother.
Repercussions are paid down the centuries, and a young man and his pregnant wife will be the last to pay.
